Why Cairns?
Cairns are a pile of stacked stones often used in the wilderness to mark trails or identify landmarks. Growing up in Vermont, they are reminders for me of time spent hiking. They also symbolize for me the idea of finding your way, navigating the unknown path or finding your way home.
Stone stacking is also used as a meditative practice and it's origins can be traced back to ancient Gaelic celebrations of the equinox and solstice.
